URBAN TIMES NEWS

Urban Times News is a news publication, a division of Jackson Hill Main Street group Non profit organization, they are a local Black-owned and operated aimed at keeping citizens and residents informed of community issues. Their primary goal is to have local content aimed at positive news and articles about Jersey City and its surrounding communities.

BEFORE

Prior to High Impact Web Design (HIWD) web project for Urban Times News (UTN) the organization was using a blog style WordPress website. The current domain was using a WordPress domain extension, it published online articles with advertising for it's patrons, and provided relevant sources of online news to the community in which it serves.

Because the site was using WordPress, it became difficult to manage over time, as new versions of WordPress was causing plugins that operated the site behind the scenes became incompatible with newer versions of WordPress, creating security vulnerabilities as some outdated plugins were no longer supported.

As time went on the site was not managed, and was dormant for a period.

AFTER

When High Impact Web Designs started the project for Urban times News:

• we moved the organization to a new domain name.
• no longer using the WordPress extension.
• we reconstructed the site in full company website
• responsive style and function.
• added payment gateway.
• With product catalog of ad space.
• Now patrons can purchase ads online for both print and online advertising.
• we created a members content area for patrons that created accounts when purchasing ads.
• we then provide a distribution page that showed locations as to where hard copies of publications can picked up locally.
• we took over making graphic ads for their customers.
• we redesigned their logo.
• we added video content and popup messages on the front end of website.

We increased visibility, exposure and revenue generation. High Impact Web Designs was able to lower operation cost, while reducing soft cost related to managing the website, provided a high end website, that exudes professionalism credibility and improved functionality
